Countries come in all shapes and sizes. On maps the large countries dominate. The smaller countries are easy to overlook without the aid of a magnifying glass. The FT8 Digital Mode Club promotes an award that gives these smaller countries (more accurately, DXCC entities) some well deserved attention. They issue the Worked Little Countries Award to Radio Amateurs who work stations in countries smaller than 1,000 square kilometers in size.

The entry level bronze award requires QSOs with 20 different countries. You can acquire additional awards for working more countries. These include Silver (40), Gold (60), Platinum (80) and Honor Roll (100).
Note that the official WLCA page mentions countries less than 1000 square meters. But surely this is a typo. Even Vatican City is larger than that!
The certificate sports a photo of a map or globe. Ironically, the Platinum certificate shows a section of the globe where large countries continue to dominate.
To apply for the Worked Little Countries Award, and all other FT8DMC awards, you must install the UltimateAAC application on a Windows machine. That application scans your WSJT-X ADIF log file and will inform you when you’ve qualified for the award at various levels. FT8DMC issues the award in digital form only (JPG or PDF) with no printing or shipping costs. In fact, the award is completely free, like all of their other awards.
