All Korean Award (AKA)

The Korean Amateur Radio League (KARL) sponsors the All Korean Award (AKA) for working Ham Radio stations in each of the six different call areas of South Korea. With only one contact required per call area, AKA is a great entry level award that requires only 6 QSOs.

The country is actually divided into five different call areas (1-5). The additional call area required for this award (0) is reserved for science, university and club stations. So those could reside anywhere in South Korea. In addition, the Korean government uses 2 other call areas for stations (8 for Antarctica and 9 for US military personnel in Korea) that are not valid for the purposes of this award.

Separate awards are available for specific bands or modes.

The award costs $10 and may be paid with PayPal. You can choose to receive the award as a PDF file or get a physical copy mailed to you. Your award application must be signed by 2 different licensed Amateur Radio operators. No cards need be sent to KARL.
