Worked All Zones – FT8DMC

The Worked All Zones Award from CQ Magazine (SK) is one of the oldest Amateur Radio awards in existence. An alternative to WAZ, also called Worked All Zones, is available for free from the FT8 Digital Mode Club (FT8DMC).

To obtain it you need to work at least one station in each of the 40 defined zones around the world. Forty zones isn’t a large number. That’s less than the number of QSOs required for Worked All States. But there are a number of zones with relatively little Amateur Radio activity. Thus, it is often considered more difficult to obtain than the DX Century Club (DXCC) award, at least at its entry level.

In addition to the base award, separate certificates can be obtained for working all zones on a single band. All contacts must be made using the FT8 digital mode.

The certificate features a CQ Zone map and a picture of the globe centered on Africa.

To apply for the Worked All Zones Award, and all other FT8DMC awards, you must install the UltimateAAC application on a Windows machine. That application scans your WSJT-X ADIF log file and will inform you when you’ve qualified for the award at various levels. FT8DMC issues the award in digital form only (JPG or PDF) with no printing or shipping costs. In fact, the award is completely free, like all of their other awards.
